The Dandy Hunt

It was near to Bristol Market one night before it was dark,
When the lads the all assembled, determin?d to a Lark
And as they roll?d down Clare Street, what should their chance to be.
But as compleat a Dandy as ever eyes did see,
Tol de rol, &c.

Will Weistle cried a Dandy, and swore he was no man,
So they all began to hustle him and he began to run
They followed him down to Chare Street, and turning round the Quay,
Where the Dandy fought a scene so well he like to got away.

The Dandy was so terrify?d he ran on board a ship
And it not been for the sailors, he?d have give the lads a slip.
But they thought he was a monster run to fetch a chain
So the Dandy jump?d s?more & they started him again.

He run across the Quay, and made off for the square
When he frightened all the people and he made the ladies stare,
Some swore a Baboon escaped from on board a ship
But he passed thro? the Avenue and gave the lads the slip.

He crawl?d behind a Faggot pile, there he set himself quite ???,
And he thought himself quite happy tho? was much bedaub?d with mud,
But the lad was all so staunch & delighted with the fun,
That they started him out and gave him another run

They run him up the Back, like hounds in full cry
And as he went up High Street he seemed for to fly
In turning down Broad street he ran into a shop
Where they met a Lady Dandy, and they daubed her with a mop.

When they had wash?d the Lady well, they turned the Dandy out,
Those Lads where all determin?d to have another bout,
But the Dandy fell upon his knees, and ofter?d them his Stay.
His Dicky Shirt, and Collar, if they let him go his way.
