The Dogs-meat Man

In Grays-in-Lane not long ago.
An old maid liv?d a life of woe,
She was sixty-five with a face like tan,
And she was enraptured with the dogs?-meat man,
Much she loved this dogs-meat man,
He was a good looking dogs-meat man,
For lilies and roses were turned to tan,
While she fell in lobe with the dogs-meat man.

Every day when he went by,
Whether the veather vas vet or dry,
And hoppersite her door he?d stand,
Crying, dogs-meat, did this dogs-meat man,
Ven out ran the cat to the dogs-meat man,
And rubb?d ?gainst the barrow of the dogs-meat man,
As hoppersite her door he?d stand,
And cry?d his dogs-meat, did this dogs-meat man.

One day she kept him at the door,
A talking a matter o?er and o?er,
For you much know that ?twas her plan,
To have a bit of chat with the dogs-meat man,
Times are hard says the dogs-meat man,
Folks get in my debt says the dogs-meat man,
Then he took up his barrow and off he ran,
And cry?d dogs-meat did this dogs-meat man.

He plainly seed how the cat did jump,
And his company he offer?d plump,
She could not blush cause her cheeks were tan,
So she set and grinn?d at the dogs-meat man,
If you?ll have me says the dogs-meat man,
Vhy I?ll have you says the dogs-meat men,
For a quarten of peppermint then she ran,
And she drank a good health to the dogs-meat man.

That very evening he was seen,
In jacket and breeched of velveteen.
To Bagnige Wells then in a bran
New gown she went with the dogs-meat man,
She?d cakes and ale with the dogs-meat man,
And valked are and arm with the dogs-meat man,
And the people all said that round did stant,
My eyes what a dandy dogs-meat man.

He said his customers good lord,
Owed him matter of two pounds odd,
Ven said she that is a vicked plan,
To cheat such a good looking dogs-meat man,
If I had bat money says the dogs-meat man,
I?d open a tripe shop says the dogs-meat man,
And marry you to morrow ? she admir?d his plan,
So a ten pound note she lent to the dogs-meat man.

He pocketed the money and went away,
She waited for him all the next day,
But he never comed, she then began.
To think she was fooled by the dogs-meat man.
She went to seek this dogs-meat man,
But she could not find the dogs-meat man,
And somebody gave her to understand,
He?d a wife and 7 children had the dogs-meat man.

So home she went with sighs and tears,
And her hopes were turned to fears,
And her hungry cat began to new,
As much as to say where?s the dogs-meat man,
She could not forget the dogs-meat man,
The handsome swindling dogs-meat man,
So you see in one short days span,
Her heart was lost, her 10 note, and the dogs-meat man.
