The Brave Marine

Some sing the valiant British tar
Whose noble deeds you find,
Brilliant as the sparkling star,
Yet still with mercy join?d,
Others the English soldiers love,
In battle how serene!
Let me another tribute move,
To sing the brave marine.

He in all weathers just and true,
His country?s cause defend;
Boldly stands forth, and where ?tis due,
Is still his country?s friend,
When soldiers call him to their aid,
His rushed to the scene!
His laurels never yet did fade-
Such is the bold marine.

When seamen claim he ready flies,
And boldly shares their fate;
Amidst surrounding foes he dies,
Lamented by his Kate,
Here, then, his wealth and honest heart,
Let us, who oft have seen.
Admire and imitate the part
Of Tom the brave marine.

The Streamlet

The streamlet that flow?d round her cot,
All the charms of my Emily knew;
How oft has its course been forgot,
While it pause?d her dear image to woo.

Believe me, the fond silver tide
Knew from whence it deriv?d the fair prize,
For, silently swelling with pride,
It reflected her back to the skies.
