New works included single- or multi-volume guidebooks or reference works. Picture of London was expensive at five shillings and sixpence in 1808, and even more so at nine shillings in 1818. However, 1808 was the ninth edition and 1818 the nineteenth, indicating steady demand, likely as a result of increasing travel to, from, and within London. If the copy shown here is any indication, it was well used.
